Happy Halloweeeeen

After thinking the past two days were Halloween for some reason, I can FINALLY say happy Halloween!

It doesn't really feel like Halloween to me. I guess it's because this year the holiday fell on a Monday, which also happened to be the day for my class registration for next semester.
So at 5:30 this morning, I was up and by 6 a.m., my friends and I were running across campus in the frosty air to get to a computer lab with good Internet connection to ensure that the registration process was done speedily.

All was said and done by 7:10 a.m. We got some food, witnessed a car accident (so scary!), and then headed back to the apartment where I took a half hour nap before heading off to class.
Needless to say, I'm pretty tired and, unfortunately, I'm not a good napper :/- napping isn't an easy thing for me to do.

So, I guess that's why this it is hard for me to believe that this regular Monday is Halloween. There is proof that today is Halloween, though, aside from the handful of people walking around campus wearing costumes...
Last night was mischief night and some "mischievous" individuals drew a penis through the ice on my friend's car window, ahah.

I'm not dressing up tonight, but my friends and I did dress up Friday night. We were the Single Ladies from the Beyonce video.

Have a fun and safe Halloween!

Snow in October?

I'm dreaming of white Halloween.

So, two days before Halloween, the East Coast gets hit with a wintry mix of rain, hail and snow. Some places got hit worse than others. Some places actually lost electricity.

The weather lately has been so unpredictable, with temperatures raising and dropping like a roller coaster. One week it's typical fall weather, like 60's, next it's freakin' 30 degrees!

Right now it's feeling more like Christmas than Halloween :/

Walmart has everything?

My friend and I went shopping around today looking for black leotards because for Halloween she, my other friend, and i are being the Single Ladies from the Beyonce video.

Well, we stop at Walmart upon her request. At this point, I'm thinking the chances of us finding a leotard are veeeeery slim. But, to my surprise, we find leotards for little girls. My friend is very thin and average height so there was a chance that an XL would fit.
She grabs one, tries it on, and whaddayaknow, it fits perfectly.

I got a leotard last winter from American Apparel for like $30.
The leotard my friend got from Walmart was $8.50 and covers a lot more skin...

Here's my leotard:

Here's my friend's leotard:

I know that, being a college girl, I'm expected to like the one that shows the most skin, but I don't, haha. If i had known that there were leotard for $8 at Walmart, I would have skipped over the $30 leotard and saved some dollar billz!

Legos on shore!

So, I was reading the news this morning and found out that on Tuesday morning, a life-sized Lego man washed up onto the shore of Siesta Key Beach in Florida.
The Lego man is reportedly 8 feet tall and 100 lbs.

On the Lego man's green torso it says "NO REAL THAN YOU ARE" as you can see here:

Thank ya, abcnews.go.com

According to Abcnews, on the Lego man's back was the number 8 and the words "Ego Leonard."
Before I get into who Ego Leonard is, I'm going to tell you that this is not the first time a life-sized Lego man has washed up on a shore.

In 2007, a Lego man bearing the same message on his torso and name on his back was seen bobbing out in the water at Zandvoort Beach in the Netherlands before he put on shore.

In 2008, another huge Lego man washed onto the shore of Brighton Beach in England, also bearing the same message on his torso and name on his back.

It is understood that the name Ego Leonard is the alter ego of a Dutch artist.
Ego Leonard's paintings all feature the Lego figures with nice little messages, including "NO REAL THAN YOU ARE."

A strange message written by Ego Leonard introducing himself can be read here along with a few of his paintings if you scroll down. Kinda creepy.

All in all, I think these large Lego men are actually pretty interesting and a GREAT way to get your name out there, for sure. Mr. Leo, you are a smart guy, but your Lego obsession is a tad bit weird.

Officially a week!

Last Monday I decided to deactivate my Facebook. Yesterday at around 11 p.m. would have been my one week anniversary. I probably would have tweeted and blogged about it then instead of this morning but last night I was watching Hall Pass :P

So far I've noticed that without my Facebook, the days go by much slower. I guess that's because when you go on Facebook just to waste time, 5 minutes suddenly turn into an hour.

I still use Twitter but I don't think it's possible to waste time on that site..unless you really try to, i guess. But that would mean scrolling down through pages of pointless things (strangely, much like Facebook) such as those horoscope tweets, those dumb re-tweets and tweets from your friends who have absolutely no optimism in them, so every week is along the lines of "I hate today."
Hm, when you think about it, Twitter and Facebook are very similar. Oh well, Twitter > Facebook FO' LYFE.

We'll see how long I can go without my Facebook. With Halloween just around the corner, I know I'll be tempted to go back because everyone will be taking pictures and I know I'll wanna check out the ones I'll be tagged in. So sad to admit that -_-

Oh, Ri Ri

I feel like every once and a while, there is one artist who hits you again and again with brilliant single after brilliant single. Some examples of these artists are Britney Spears and Chris Brown.
It's like everything they touch turns into liquid gold that pour from my radio's speakers!

While those two artists are great, there is one chick who never fails to impress- Rihanna (It's funny because i said "hit after hit" and then mentioned Chris Brown....anyway...)

The Barbados hottie made her first appearance onto the music scene in 2005 with her single "Pon de Replay" and since then has become one of the best females artists out there. She literally has the key to music in the palm of her hand.

It's not only her music that continues to impress me, either. Her music videos are dope, sick, ill, bitchin, groovy; basically, her music videos are awesome! Especially the video to her latest single, "We Found Love." The song is catchy and the video just makes you excited and sad at same time. I'd expect nothing less than a rollercoaster of emotions after a Rihanna video.

ENJOY

Mondays in the toilet

Monday are not my day. I always have bad luck on Mondays, and not only because i have class at 9:25 a.m., but because it's the only day of the week when unfortunate things happen to me almost in a row.

For example, I can remember a few Mondays ago i woke up late for my class. I ran to bathroom and when i went to put my contacts on, it seemed as if the contact solution had been replaced by soapy water because my eyes were burning.
So i decide to just wear glasses for the morning. I make a toaster strudel for breakfast and burn my fingers so bad by touching it.
Somewhere between the soapy contacts and the toasted fingers i thought my 9:25 was at 9:45, so i show up 20 minutes late to class with blood shot eyes. FUN!

This morning, again i had a toaster strudel (sensing a pattern?), didn't burn myself, showed up to class on time, BUT when i got back to my apartment something bad happened.
I have a habit of taking my phone everywhere with me, including the bathroom.
I think you know where this is going. My phone fell into the toilet.

This isn't the first or even second time this has happened to me. It's the third.
The first two times were a result of me leaving my phone in my back pocket of my jeans causing it to slip out when i lower myself to do my bathroom thang...ahem.
Since then, i've made a mental note to take my phone out of my back pocket before doing any....bathroom..thangs...SO i havent lost a phone that way since.
This morning, however, was strange because i was holding my phone in my hand and as i went to flush my toilet, my phone decided to make a run for it and jump into the toilet.

Now, i mean it when i say that i NEVER drop my phone anywhere, except the toilet. Only in the toilet will i drop my phone.

Butterfly

Follow me to all your favorite places
Pass the blur of melting faces
Together we'll fly out of time, but we will return soon
The world will be just fine for a few hours
without the presence of me and you

Some words that can easily become inappropriate with the change of a letter or two

Corn
"Yo, lesbian corn is my favorite."

Glass
"Yo, kiss my glass!"

Toothpick
"Yo, suck my toothpick."

Blunt
"Yo, shut up, blunt."

Hope you enjoy the product of my boredom!

A shitty place

So, i'm a sophomore in college.
My freshman year here was pretty great; i had a lot of good experiences:

*i got to be away from home at a comfortable distance
*my room mate was/still is great
*my floor mates turned into some of my best friends
*i met lots of different people
*i got punched in the face
*i danced in the rain in a hula skirt
*i got drunk in Philly
*i smoked a lot
*and i learned a lot!

This year, however, is proving to be far from great so far.
Because i'm a sophomore, i get to live in an apartment now, which is cool-ish because i now have a kitchen and a private bathroom.
Unfortunately, though, there are more cons than pros to this school year.

To save this from being an extremely long post, i will post the MAIN points of why this school year sucks:

*There are 3 of us living in a 4 people apartment, 2 being me and my room mate from last year.
*There were supposed to be 4 of us but a few weeks before we moved in one of the girls who was supposed to live with us told us that she wasn't going to be able to come back this semester.
*The 3rd person living with us is foreign exchange student from China. It is her second year in America. Language barrier and a stranger living with us.
*The walls here are paper thin and, not to be racist, the people living next to us are 4 loud black girls who LOVE to blast music and tv from 1-3am when my room mate and i have early classes.
*The walk from my apartment to class is farrrrrr. I'm so lazy :/
*Stink bugs everywhere.
*Fruit flies everywhere.
*Apartment is 50 ft away from the train tracks and there is a train that goes by once, sometimes twice, a night. This train doesn't go choo choo. It goes BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BAHHHHHHHHHHHHH BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

That's my rant about my shitty life in a shitty apartment surrounded by shitty people and shitty things.

Freeeeezing

Woke up for my 9:25 class thinking it was a chilly but bearable day that could be conquered with a long sleeved shirt. I was so wrong, and thankfully I didn't find out the hard way!
I checked the weather before leaving my apartment, saw that it was 49 degrees and grabbed my pea coat! It's finally pea coat weather, yay-ish!

In other news, my room mate and I have been squishing fruit flies to their death mid-air since yesterday. These little things must multiply so fast! They're everywhere!

We've covered the fruit- ya think that would have kept 'em away- but nope, they're still lingering, mostly in the cup of orange juice I left on the table this morning. Yuck.

49 degrees

I feel so alone in the morning :/
